A pretty wife, a smart kid, a poodle, and a sailboat
I grew up in the Jewish tradition on Long Island in the 1960's after my family moved from Brooklyn in the early Fifties as part of the post war exodus. While not a religious person, I've always been naturally inclined to spirituality as a consuming interest even before I knew what spirituality was.
Unfortuantely I became mired in the drug culture of the late Sixties which was part of the great social evolution of that time. While many passed through it as part of their normal growing up, for me it was a catastrophe and stole the most formative years of my young life when youthful confusions are supposed to find the guidance that shows them how to be a mature person. I skipped a grade and won a National Merit Scholarship but I barely got out of high school.
As soon as I could pull myself out of that debilitating time, 1966-1974, I set about to fix myself and build the confident life I always wanted. And so the book I wrote, "Spiriting Around: A Modern Guide to Finding Yourself" is the product of over 35 years of steady effort to explain what I found and make it easier for anyone who might want to use it so their life wouldn't have to be so hard.
